The Basics

If you somehow found yourself in my blog and have no idea what in the world a 5 Seconds of Summer is, then you’re in for a treat. Here’s all you need to know about them:

1. 5 Seconds of Summer (or 5SOS) is a 4-piece pop-punk/pop rock band from Sydney, Australia.
2. The band consists of members (original line-up):
   • Luke Hemmings – lead vocals, guitar
   • Michael Clifford – guitar, vocals
   • Calum Hood – bass, vocals
   • Ashton Irwin – drums, vocals
3. Luke, Michael and Calum all met in school, while Ashton, who came from a different school, was invited into the band by Michael Clifford, whom he had met at a party.
4. Luke first started off by posting videos of himself doing covers on YouTube (Account: hemmo1996).
   

   “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner was the first cover Luke ever posted.

5. The band was officially formed in December of 2011, after their first ever gig performing as a 4-piece in the Annandale Hotel (Sydney).

8. 5SOS, in conjunction with Capitol Records, have their own record label called Hi or Hey Records, in which they release all of their music through.
9. The band has won a total of 34 awards out of 102 nominations. (Correct me if I’m wrong, I just counted it off their Wikipedia page, lol)
10. Fun fact: the name 5 Seconds of Summer was coined by Michael Clifford and means absolutely nothing (that’s according to him, but we’ll look into that).
